Sujoy Ghosh has wanted to work with Kareena Kapoor for the longest time, but their busy schedules have been an obstacle that prevented their collaboration from come to fruition. The duo recently overcame this obstacle by signing on the dotted line for his new film Devotion, an adaptation of Keigo Higashino’s Japanese novel The Devotion of Suspect X. Kapoor will play a divorced mother who murders her abusive ex-husband and is then helped by a neighbor (played by Jaideep Ahlawat) to dispose of her husband’s corpse. This thriller has a long history in Bollywood, most notably when it was set to be produced by Ekta Kapoor in 2017. At one point in late 2017, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was also rumored to star as the lead character in this adaptation
